Water aid for homeopathy

In medicine, homeopaths have been attacked and ridiculed. This is much less about debates over evidence for a clinical effect (as there’s a good body of work demonstrating this). It’s much more around the scientific establishment’s non-acceptance of any plausible mechanism. If there’s no active ingredient in it, how can it work? That’s of course only if you think water is inert. And therein lies one of the great, widely held misconceptions in modern science.

In our lead story this week, we report on a conference in which I participated at the Royal Society of Medicine. It pulled together a gaggle of scientists all of which have been involved in major discoveries – two of them are Nobel laureates. Skeptics who have closed their minds to any possibility of an underlying mechanism explaining homeopathy should not rightly be regarded as skeptics. They have after all closed their minds. The scientists presented scientific findings and evidence that at the very least suggested the possibility of one or more plausible mechanisms. It’s time to open minds and engage. It’s not just about homeopathy, the issues that are raised have the potential to change our entire perspective on what life on planet Earth is all about.
