The ‘casedemic’ is ramping up in the UK. This week saw the ‘rule of 6’ come into play, the north east is facing further restrictions from Friday, including a 10pm curfew – the first, a new low – new covid marshals are due to appear in town centres to help people to tow the line and citizens are being encouraged to snitch on their neighbours. Another new low.
Apparently all these stasiesque rules are necessary to avoid a 2nd lockdown because infection rates are meant to be ramping up. But are they? Our first article looks aghast at Boris’ government committing £100 billion to further testing (with questionable tests), which eclipses other very necessary spends like education and defence. After crunching the Govt’s numbers ourselves, we share where the figures are really at. Not something you’re likely to hear on the news any time soon.
It’s also the final hours before the consultation on the proposed changes to the Human Medicines Regulation here in the UK. We remind you that it closes at one minute to midnight (UK BST time) on Friday 18th September. Please also write to your MP as these changes will have to go through Parliament (expected next month). We all need to let our MPs know that we’re deeply concerned and we don’t want them to rubber stamp this one! You’ll find a guideline letter to help you create yours.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for sharing our videos and information. It is heartening to see so many awakening daily to the reality of the situation we find ourselves in. It’s always darkest before the dawn, but the dawn always does arrive. Let’s keep our collective focus on what we’d like to see when dawn finally breaks.
