HPV vaccine and supermarket shopping

This week’s eAlert is not about HPV vaccines being dished out in supermarkets. Our first story is, however, about the predicament parents and guardians are put in when they are faced with a consent form for their daughter (or son) over HPV vaccination. That was my experience last week, given one of my four daughters is now 12-years-old. It is therefore a piece very dear to my heart, and that of my family.

Our second piece this week relates to another predicament many of us are put in – often much more frequently. What do we do in supermarkets? We offer you our 10-point smart guide to supermarket shopping. Available in electronic form or in hard copy (please contact us for orders), the guide will help you (or your customers) to find the more healthy options in a supermarket, places that contain a multitude of products that can very easily, if we mis-select, see us to early chronic disease or death.

In our weekly news roundup, we cover stories about the development of mandatory vaccination in Europe, and about the European Commission’s undemocratic approach to extending the world’s number one herbicide’s licence despite its known carcinogenicity. Oh – there’s also some good news for coffee drinkers!
