Glyphosate, Brexit and waste management

EU president Donald Tusk’s words uttered earlier today, “What can I add to this, we already miss you” as he received the Article 50 letter from the UK’s most high profile postman, Sir Tim Barrow, UK ambassador to the EU, have already made headlines around the world. Only history will tell exactly in which ways Mr Tusk will miss the UK’s membership of the troubled EU.

Exactly what the UK’s departure will mean for the British public at large, or for different industry sectors, is a matter of guesswork.  This week we look at the European Parliament’s continued pressure to see the blocking of any further extension of the license for use of the world’s number 1 pesticide, glyphosate. Will it go the way of the bee-killing nicotinoids which are being phased out by the EU following public pressure and potent scientific evidence of their lethal effect, especially to bees? Will the UK follow suit, or run contrary to EU policy in support of its chums in Big Biotech and Big Agri? Or can public pressure also be brought bear to create a win for both health and environment?

For those wanting to go ‘off-grid’ with their food supply as a means of protecting their health, opting out of supermarkets and minimising their waste, what are their options?

Dig into this week’s stories – and find out.

I’d also like to draw your attention to the extraordinary happenings in our news round-up that you won’t have read about in the mainstream press, despite it being of incredible relevance to anyone with a hint of an interest in living naturally.

Happy reading – and we extend our appreciation to you for the sharing you might do to help others benefit from this week’s eAlert.
