Long time friend and colleague, Michael Stroka, passed away unexpectedly on 14 June 2023, leaving a huge gap in the nutrition world. Our thoughts are with his family and close colleagues at this time, as all those who knew and loved him across the nutrition world come to terms with his loss.

After earning his Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate degrees from The University of Virginia in 1996, Michael embarked on a jet set lifestyle as a business strategy consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. One that was to catapult him into the world of nutrition after he contracted food poisoning on a trip to Indonesia that left him with lingering chronic fatigue syndrome. He had to quit his high flying job to focus on his recovery, which eventually led him to nutritional therapy, after he had exhausted all other avenues. The results turned his life around, forever making him a passionate advocate for the power of nutrition to regain and maintain health.

After completing his Master of Science in Human Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport in 2007, he went on to co-found the American Nutrition Association in 2011, serving as its CEO as well as Executive Director of both the American College of Nutrition and the Board for the Certification of Nutritionists.

Michael was a warm, loving, heartfelt man with a deep passion for health freedom and the furtherance of nutrition in healthcare. He touched people’s hearts wherever he went. He is already much missed and will be remembered for his dedication to his family, passion for the power of nutrition to change people’s lives, vitality, humour and interest in the wellbeing of all he met.

“There’s so much potential to change peoples’ lives through nutrition. We are at a point where we are poised to catalyze major change in Americans’ approach to health.”

– Michael Stroka, CEO American Nutrition Association

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise money to support his wife and four children as they now navigate life without Michael.
