- CRISPR gene editing promises cures and resilient crops, yet safety concerns persist: off-target mutations, unknown long-term effects, and unpredictable ecological impacts. Now, researchers from Stanford, Princeton, Google DeepMind, and UC Berkeley have unveiled “CRISPR-GPT”—an AI system that purports to design and troubleshoot gene editing experiments for users from novices to experts. Supporters of such techniques hail the accelerated development of gene edited organisms, but coupling AI speed with an imprecise science risks amplifying mistakes. Safety ‘features’ are no guarantee once tools become widely available. In complex living systems, errors can spread and persist in ways no algorithm can fully predict. Before we entrust ecosystems and human health to algorithm-driven bioengineering, the question must be asked: are we racing toward necessary solutions or unleashing changes we won’t be able to control once they’re ‘out of the box’?
- Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood (and increasingly in adults), characterised by difficulties in concentrating and focusing, with impulsiveness and hyperactivity. The number of diagnoses both in children and adults has been rising rapidly in recent years as people look for reasons to explain their neurological and behavioural issues. Rarely are the benefits of diet discussed with those looking to improve mood, memory or behaviour. A new study published in Frontiers in Nutrition seeks to change this, as it explores the role of nutrition in ADHD and the impact of food intolerances, gut dysbiosis and micronutrient insufficiencies in relation to health issues experienced by those with ADHD. The importance of a healthy, nutrient dense, wholefood diet was demonstrated as far back as the late 1970s by the Hyperactive Children’s Support Group, long before ADHD became the problem it is today, yet the importance of nutrition and lifestyle changes are still missing from the majority of advice for those living with ADHD.

- Researchers looking for a genetic reason for obesity have found what’s long been known by natural health practitioners. That obesity is a multi-factorial condition that affects multiple systems in the body and is related to metabolic disturbance and ultimately dysfunction. In a new preprint study researchers, looking at DNA from people across multiple countries, identified 11 endotypes (biological mechanisms causing the problem). Each endotype was found to affect a different cluster of metabolic systems from appetite and energy regulation in the brain to neuroendocrine signalling problems and immune dysregulation. The answer to such complexity lies in speaking to our genes in the evolutionary language they understand through diet, lifestyle, activity and stress management, as well as maintaining an optimal circadian rhythm through good sleep practice—all of which contribute to creating and maintaining normal metabolic function which is the greatest, natural, prevention against weight gain and obesity.

- The artificial sweetener, Sucralose, disrupts the gut microbiome says the science. Researchers investigating the way in which Sucralose reduces the efficacy of immunotherapy in cancer patients found that the sweetener reduced the diversity of the gut microbiome reducing the production of arginine–important for immune cell functioning. However, rather than advising cancer patients to remove artificial sweeteners from their diets to improve the health of their gut microbiome, the researchers recommend supplementing with arginine to overcome the issue
- The European Court of Justice has overturned the EU’s 2020 classification of certain powdered forms of titanium dioxide as a suspected inhalation carcinogen—a win for powerful industrial lobbies and a blow to public health protection. The ruling confirms an earlier decision by the General Court, where the Court upheld the annulment despite the European Chemicals Agency’s scientific opinion linking the particles to an increased risk of cancer, setting a worrying precedent for future industry challenges to chemical safety classifications. Advocates warn this could weaken the EU’s ability to protect consumers from hazardous substances, especially nanoforms. Titanium dioxide remains banned as a food additive (E171) under separate EU rules, yet remains in many pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Foodwatch has the full details.

- Fuelled by the growing realisation of the harms of agricultural chemicals and calls for sustainable farming practices big biotechs are now eyeing the ASEAN agriculture market for biologics—predicted to double in value by 2028. However, despite the hype, farmers in the region are understandably cautious about the new promises following on from GMO failures. Nevertheless, the industry is pushing hard to bypass regulatory processes to fast track the introduction of agricultural biologics, regardless of the impact on farmers livelihoods, the environment, or human health.

- Leading US paediatrician, Dr Michelle Perro, offers parents key steps to take control of AI in your home for your children. Dr Perro’s recent Substack article is a response to hearing how at just 16 years old, Adam Raine’s life was tragically cut short after months of harmful interactions with ChatGPT, an AI system he had initially used for his schoolwork. What began as a tool for learning became, for Adam, a trusted companion—one that ultimately gave detailed instructions, encouragement, and validation of his suicidal thoughts. This devastating failure of digital safeguards has driven Adam’s parents to seek justice through the courts against OpenAI and its creator, Sam Altman. Adam’s death shines a harsh light on the dangers of digital dependency among children and young people. Increasingly, the digital world is not just a tool but an all-consuming environment—where toddlers erupt in violent tantrums when devices are removed, or children mimic device use even in their sleep. Such dependency distances young people from family, friends, and real-world connections, blurring the line between reality and the digital realm. Adam’s story is a stark reminder of the urgent need for accountability, robust protections, and a re-evaluation of the role digital systems are being allowed to play in the lives of our most vulnerable.

ANH-USA Update
- As Robert F Kennedy (RFK Jr) and Dr Makary move to crack down on dangerous ‘herbals’, like semi-synthetic 7-OH concentrates, sold in gas stations, vape shops, convenience stores, and online, the future of whole leaf kratom, an ancient botanical—and the supplement industry more generally—hangs in the balance. Read more, share the article. Together, we can protect health freedom for this generation — and the next
- RFK Jr’s push to reduce toxic chemicals in the food system is being co-opted by Big Ag, which is promoting genetically engineered microbes as “green”, sustainable solutions—despite the serious, irreversible risks they pose to our soil, ecosystems, and health. Take Action to stop the introduction of GE soil microbes!

Free Speech Threats
- In a new report assessing countries’ human rights practices, the US government has slammed the UK government over its assault on human rights due to the “serious restrictions on freedom of expression” seen since the introduction of the Online Safety Act. However, it seems it’s a case of throwing stones in glasshouses, as plans to bring in new online digital laws similar to the UK’s Online Safety Act, as support for the US Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), picks up pace despite increasing concerns about the potential abuse of its powers to curtail free speech and violate online privacy—all in the name of protecting children online, which is a laudable cause, but also used as an authoritarian mechanism to remove citizen freedoms.
Post-Covid Related
- A powerful new paper, published in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, presents compelling evidence that SARS-CoV-2 and its mRNA vaccines stem from deliberate gain-of-function engineering, rather than natural evolution, with consequences that extend far beyond public health mismanagement. The authors highlight systemic harms, ranging from autoimmune disease and cardiovascular injury to reproductive damage and aggressive cancers, whilst painting a picture of interventions that may threaten the very foundations of human health and trust. What makes this paper so significant is its scope: drawing on epidemiological, mechanistic, and autopsy data, it frames the issue not as isolated adverse events but as a consistent and pervasive pattern of toxicity. The message is clear: we must demand transparency, accountability, and urgent re-evaluation of these technologies before their impacts further imperil future generations.
