- The future of synthetic humans has taken a chilling step closer to reality under the guise of a new, highly controversial project, called the Synthetic Human Genome (SynHG) project. With funding of £10 million from the Wellcome Trust, work has already begun on a proof-of-concept design a build a synthetic version of the human genome. Researchers working on the project estimate it will take 5-10 years to complete as the way is prepared for a transhuman or posthuman future
- Could a new wearable wristband further desensitise people to the notion of embedded health monitoring technology with its array of microneedles that sample interstitial fluid under the skin to measure glucose, lactate and alcohol levels in real time? The wristband can also measure blood pressure, arterial stiffness and heart rate. The researchers behind the device are working on powering it by sweat or sunlight
- Children that consume sweeteners could be at risk of early puberty. In a study using Taiwanese data (not yet published), presented at ENDO 2025, the Endocrine Society’s annual meeting, researchers found that consuming aspartame, sucralose, glycyrrhizin and added sugars was significantly linked to a higher risk of early puberty (known as precocious puberty), especially in children with certain genetic profiles. The sweeteners, commonly used in children’s food products to cut sugar consumption, were found to influence hormones and gut bacteria linked to the onset of early puberty.

- Not only are artificial sweeteners harming human health, they’re also damaging the environment and other organisms as they’re excreted by humans. A new study published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials, discusses the increasing levels of artificial sweeteners entering the environment via human wastewater. Serious concern has arisen about the negative impact on fish, their role in promoting antimicrobial resistance and the recirculation of sweeteners back into the human food chain potentially increasing the risk of people developing a range of chronic diseases.
- RNA-based crop ‘protection’ technology is about to be unleashed on plants. After four years, working under the radar, Terrana Biosciences is ready to unleash its products on the environment leveraging RNA interference (RNAi) to silence specific genes in pests, pathogens, or plants. Despite the glowing promises, RNAi technologies come with a multitude of issues, including off-target effects; problems delivering the molecules where needed; Pest and pathogen resistance and ecosystem impacts. As with gene edited organisms, once RNAi molecules enter the environment there’s no telling what might happen
- Carbon farming (CF) is being framed as a future solution to climate change, but a closer look shows it’s more about profits than real climate action. Big agribusinesses are using the idea of CF, like storing carbon in soils and selling carbon credits, as part of their business strategy. The problem is that it’s being used to greenwash big corporates’ activities without changing their core business, and might end up reinforcing the very systems that drive environmental harm. Real progress will require shifting power away from corporations and supporting farming systems that are diverse, local, and truly sustainable.

- Denmark has withdrawn approval of 23 pesticides containing TFA, a short-chain PFAS compound, amongst concerns about its environmental impact. The restrictions will come into force in the next 6-15 months
- In the UK, 100 out of 117 water bodies tested by the Environment Agency for a range of PFAS chemicals, were found to contain levels of “forever chemicals” that would exceed proposed new safety limits.

- The European Commission has released details of changes to its novel foods approval process in order to allow expedited development and approval of new biotech products such as precision fermented proteins and other ‘food’ ingredients
- The long-lasting effects of antidepressants are revealed in a new study published in Psychiatry Research. Far from being the innocuous drugs that help us cope with life, those choosing to stop using antidepressants are exposed to a high risk of suffering severe and long-lasting health issues, particularly those who’ve used them for long periods of time.

- A new study published in Annals of Internal Medicine and splashed across mainstream media, claims that aluminium in vaccines isn’t harmful to young children. Sounds too good to be true? Put the study under the microscope as James Lyons-Weiler PhD has and you’ll find out the answer is quite the opposite. Dr Lyons-Weiler has has found that adjustments to the data used by the reserarchers have skewed the results to create the desired outcome, such as adjusting for the number of GP visits before the age of 2 and not having an unvaccinated comparator group resulting in the disappearance of the very signal they’re supposed to be assessing.
ANH-USA Update
- The US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) campaign against compounded natural peptides continues as it seeks to ban powerful natural compounds that can treat immune-related conditions, infections and cancer. Write to your representatives and the FDA telling them to allow continued consumer access to natural peptide medicines…
- The clock is ticking for the US to reject the 2024 amendments to the WHO’s International Health Regulations that pave the way for more Big Pharma dominance at the expense of personal choice. Oppose the WHO takeover of pandemic policies and protect your right to make your own healthcare decision…

- Utah-based doctor, Michael Kirk Moore Jr MD, valiantly stood up for his patients during the pandemic and offered them a choice when the US federal government refused to do so. Dr Moore offered his patients the choice of a covid vaccine or the option of a saline injection, both yielding a vaccine pass. After being reported to the authorities by an aggrieved party, he was hounded and prosecuted under the Biden Administration for his actions. After facing a potential 35 years in prison, he has been completely exonerated by US Attorney General Pam Bondi who directed the US Justice Dept to dismiss all charges against Dr Moore. He is once again a free man and able to continue to serve his patients as a medical doctor.
