Why membership?

In the beginning…

When we founded the Alliance for natural Health (ANH) back in February 2002, we knew that uniting a varied and diverse range of interests, all faced with similar draconian challenges would be essential to the success of our mission.

We chose the word ‘alliance’ in our name very deliberately because we felt it was crucial to include a vertical cross section of interests including individuals, health professionals, scientists, lawyers, non-profit organisations, groups, academics and businesses, all with one thing in common:  protecting and expanding access to, and use of, natural health approaches.

Collaboration, more now than ever before, is essential if we’re to realise our mission of promoting and protecting natural and sustainable approaches to healthcare globally. Our guiding principles of ‘good science and ‘good law’ remain as unchanged today as they were on our first day of operation almost two decades ago.

Our voluntary donor model has served us reasonably up until now: people donate to us as they see fit – and no words can express how grateful we are to the many of you who have dug deep to help us stay afloat and become ever more influential over this time. In the early days, we cranked phone lines, wrote letters, sent faxes and emails, handed out flyers and relied on word-of-mouth. The ANH office existed under a sea of paper with the constant whir of the fax and photocopier machines in the background.

Big Tech take-over

The advent of social media, smart phones, video and digital tech changed all that, and for a time so did the ease of our outreach. But that wasn’t all, slowly, behind the scenes the locus of control was shifting. A little over a year ago we entered a world that we – and few others – had predicted would come upon us in our lifetimes. The liberty-sapping, totalitarian, censored environment that has now been thrust upon us.

The tech giants that control the vast array of different digital platforms that we’d all become accustomed to communicating through decided to change the rules of engagement. This is part of a global process determined by Big Tech, Big Pharma, global governments and an assortment of the most wealthy individuals on the planet.  

We all stumbled into the new world of ‘cancel culture’ and the word ‘deplatformed’ entered our vocabulary less than a year ago. If you speak out and criticise the mainstream narrative, you run a very high risk of being wiped from the system with a few keystrokes. There is no appeal process or right of reply — and freedom of speech be damned.

Membership – our antidote

Membership is our antidote to censorship. It’s also our growth and future-proofing strategy because it’s the best way right now of being able to better support you, our valued community. Moving to a membership structure will ensure that ANH-Intl is not silenced, nor watered down and remains at liberty to share independent content that is at odds with the mainstream narrative for its members.

What’s in a term? The term ‘pathfinder’ does have military connotations, but it’s meaning goes far beyond its use to describe members of the special forces, notably paratroopers, who were dropped in first to illuminate the landing zone for the succeeding planes while also giving the main force protective cover.

While this militaristic use of the term ‘pathfinder’ may resonate and seem poignant to some given our current predicament, we chose to use the term to describe the type of individuals who illuminate new paths for others, and who discover new ways through, or into, unexplored or less well understood areas of human endeavour. In doing this, pathfinders are also persistent in seeing their way to overcoming obstacles and challenges. We are all the lantern-bearers who are so needed now to map a way forward for the mutual benefit of people and planet.

Becoming an ANH Pathfinder means you become part of our growing, grassroots community of individuals who share the common desire for change and to create and regenerate health, while fully respecting the two fundamental principles of medical ethics — namely autonomy and justice.

As a conscious community we must be able to challenge efforts by governments, businesses or individuals that infringe or restrict our ability to live life in ways that enable us to use natural means of health care as an inalienable right. We need to combat bias and conflicts of interest in science – and diligently protect the need for freedom of expression and open, not shut down, scientific and medical discourse.

Co-creating the health creative’s revolution

Your support as an ANH Pathfinder will help us to help you. We’re passionate about freedom and if you’re here, then we know you are too. Whilst we might be starting small, we have big plans for this community platform and hope you’ll stick around and help us to build it.

As a species, we are at a unique juncture that will leave an indelible mark in our history books that is at least as big as that for a world war. We’re at one of those once-in-a-lifetime choice points or bifurcations for our species. It’s going to be down to the pathfinders, the lantern bearers, and those that are awake to our current reality to not only help pick up the pieces, but lay them down to form a new image of our future, one that resonates in our hearts, minds and spirits. For the few to do what’s needed to see the many through and to persist until the job is done.

To accomplish all that, we must have the unfettered ability to support each other, to share information, to discuss, debate and to create. Especially as health is – and will continue to be – central in this battle for humanity. This is revolution through revelation.
