Broken business, broken people and planet

If we want to be serious about doing things differently to ensure future generations have the potential to achieve the kind of vital health and resilience that’s still possible today, we can’t engage only in piecemeal changes. The net effect of the prevailing ‘business as usual’ (BAU) model, whether you’re looking at food, transport, energy or healthcare, is killing both us and the planet more quickly than many recognise.

Greta Thunberg isn’t the only person saying “the time to act is now”. Anyone who engages fully with the nature and scale of the interrelated human health and environmental crises knows there is just a narrow window of opportunity.  Business must change what it does – and that change needs to be seismic. The changes needed cost money and won’t happen unless the citizens on which these businesses depend decide they don’t want unsustainable products and services supplied by BAU producers and suppliers.
